She always believed she could fly:
why else were those flaps on her back lined with silk
feathers floating all around but all she wanted was to float
high and true above the rain
and just look up for once
and you see those gray clouds move too fast for
fluff.
She never expected it
To be so soon, when everyone else was laughing giddily.
She never saw it coming.
But it did, so she did
Tear herself apart in desperation
To just find when it could have been
and now she waits,
Hungry,
And eternity never did feel so long.
