She smiled too wide.
Her pretty teeth were blinding white
and her gums pink as bubblegum
and her lips plump and red and juicy
and her tongue flipped lightly against her mouth
but her smile was still too wide.
And everyday she saw the width,
measured it,
studied it
until it stretched past her face,
through her ears,
around her scalp,
like a neat little zipper and
opened her skull up and
took a peek inside and -
it was too big anyway.

Ooh, goodness, you're certainly making a statement here. How you take the idea of a smile-- friendly, goodwill-- and make it into something too big, too much... something that almost destroys her, so you can see into her head. I really like it.
