Tear my heart open
I'll sew myself shut
Crooked stitches and messy threads
pulling scarred skin tight tight
so tight I can't breathe.
Rip it to shreds,
shred it 'till RIP
you lose, game over,
better luck next time.
Sharp claws sink into tender flesh
pulsing weakly to the fading drum.
Where did you go, soldier, what did you learn?
Did they pull the veil of innocence away from your eyes?
Did it hurt when you fell
so broken and alone?
Did anyone kiss you back to health,
did anyone miss you?
The storm's but begun, get ready for war
and fight to the end
This heart is failing, hit once too many
the bullets of steel will not unlodge.
Can you fix it, soldier, can you stop it?
Will you fit the pieces of this broken heart
back together?
I cannot.
